ADOPTION RESOURCES
Spence-Chapin Services to Families and Children Telephone: (212) 369-0300 The founding families of the Children's Help Net Foundation adopted their children through Spence-Chapin. We highly endorse this agency for their adoption services and post-placement programs and services. Spence-Chapin primarily serves families in the states of New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Pennsylvania. For special needs babies, the agency frequently networks with other agencies throughout the U.S. For international adoptions, Spence-Chapin works cooperatively with agencies outside of the NY metropolitan area. Spence-Chapin's international programs currently place infants and young children from Latin America, Asia and Eastern Europe in need of loving homes with adoptive families in the USA. Spence-Chapin supports various humanitarian aide initiatives on their own and in cooperation with Children's Help Net Foundation and the Andrea Foundation (Bucharest, Romania). The Spence-Chapin Adoption Resource Center provides continuing education and support for everyone involved in adoption - including those who are thinking about adopting - through a series of workshops and speakers. Spence-Chapin's SPARK program focuses on child development. Its workshops, consultations and service referrals all aim to benefit individual children and their families. SPARK welcomes everyone - families who have adopted privately, worked with Spence-Chapin, or used other agencies.
Children's Home Society of Minnesota Children's Home Society of Minnesota welcomes you to join their 450+ families per year who adopt internationally from 15 different countries. They have been helping build families through adoption for 111 years and have placed over 20,000 children throughout the United States.
Christian Adoption Services, Inc. Christian Adoption Services is a private, non-profit organization located in the greater Charlotte, North Carolina area whose primary purpose is to avail homeless, abandoned, and otherwise needy children the opportunity of having loving families to call their own. The care of the children is being carried out by a humanitarian aid program of an established local foundation which CAS helps to sponsor. Dr. Jane Aronson is a pediatrician specializing in adoption medicine. Her practice, International Pediatric Health Services, offers comprehensive primary pediatric care for all children as well as pediatric infectious disease consultations, and specialized services for children adopted from abroad. As a pioneer in the field of international adoption medicine, she has visited orphanages in Russia, Bulgaria, Romania, China, Vietnam and Latin America, and has an in-depth understanding of the different health and developmental issues facing children in each of these countries. The Orphan Doctor site was designed to educate families hoping to adopt children both domestically and from abroad, starting with pre-adoption counseling to long-term developmental issues and concerns. In addition, the site provides all users with relevant medical research and definitions, links to other helpful sites and a section in which to present adoption experiences. The founding families of the Children's Help Net Foundation all used Dr. Aronson's services. We highly recommend her as a first stop upon returning home with your adopted child. |
