PAST PROJECTS & PROGRAMS IN MOLDOVA

Auxiliary kitchen for the Municipal Orphanage in Chisinau

An auxiliary kitchen was built and equipped with two propane stoves. The orphanage had previously received a donation of one stove from a German charity. This kitchen allows the orphanage to cook for the children during frequent power outages, especially during the winter. This project was made possible by Children's Help Net, Spence-Chapin, and by the generosity of Julio and Ana Maria Camarena.

How you can help: Make a donation for the purchase of propane.

Donations to the Placement and Rehabilitation Center for Young Children (formerly the Republican Orphanage) in Chisinau

In February 2003 Children's Help Net donated infant formula to the Placement and Rehabilitation Center for Young Children in response to an urgent request.

In April 2003 Irina Malanciuc, the Director of the Placement and Rehabilitation Center for Young Children, showed us that most of the pajamas used to cloth infants were threadbare. Children's Help Net responded by providing 1,000 pairs of pajamas.

During 2003 Children's Help Net made regular donations of food, vitamins, medicine, blankets, cleaning aides, soap, toothpaste and shampoo.

In October 2003 the foundation provided funds to replace the linoleum floor in the isolation ward of Group 2.

Children with Special Needs

During 2002 Children's Help Net created a fund for children in Moldova with special medical needs.

We provided funds for cranial surgery for a young child with hydrocephaly and a hearing aide for 15 year old Ecaterina Trifonov pictured here.
